not too late to make new year’s resolutions: What you need to know to make them stick and how human design can help you

Hello and welcome,

2021 is here, finally, making us tell 2020 “don’t let the door hit your back!”

There are over 40 calendars in use in the world today, each has been developed to help people organize their life. Calendars mark the passage of time, but none is absolute - it is not a New Year for everyone.

The Gregorian New Year is the beginning of a new fiscal year, it helps you set those goals that entail budgeting and organizing your taxes, etc.

You feel motivated by this new beginning

Each year you are ready with your new moleskin agenda, or your bullet journal to set your goals for the new shiny year - whether those goals belong to the health, romance, business categories, you are fast to plan for the year ahead.

But by the second or third week (not month), you lose your oomph.

You fall back to your old habits, or you are distracted by the demands on you and on your time.

Let yourself make changes that stick

This is where you need to learn about a different type of calendar.

It is called the Rave New Year, a solar cycle that starts on January 21 of each year.

According to the Human Design System, the new cycle starts when the Sun reaches gate 41 of the Rave Mandala.

With this new cycle, you have clarity about what really matters to you to achieve, the areas of focus, and the energy to support you in your endeavors.

If you delayed writing down your resolutions, or if you dropped the practice altogether, that is ok. You have not missed the opportunity to create a more fulfilling 2021.

The time prior to the beginning of the new cycle can be broken down to four stages of preparation.

I am dedicating this blog post for Stage One and Stage Two.

First Stage: Finding Purpose in the previous cycle

The Sun/Earth axes moves to gate 38/39 marking the first stage that is focused on finding purpose in the previous cycle.

Gate 38

Gate 38 is called Opposition and the Fighter. Gate 39 is called Provocation and Obstruction. Together they bring in the fuel to struggle to seek purpose in life despite opposition. They bring the energy that provokes our spirit and the drive to find purpose in life.

Notice it is “purpose”, not “PURPOSE”.

And it is “struggle”, not “STRUGGLE”.

It is an energy of tension and provocation that wants you to examine different areas in your life, to see what worked for you and what did not.

It wants to help you find what sparks satisfaction, success, peace, surprise in you.

It wants you to have the fuel to struggle for the things that matter to you, based on your own values.

So in your journal, list the different areas in your life

Physical Body Career Material Possession Finance/Money Creative Expression Home Love/Romance Travel/Adventure Other

Under each area, meditate on what worked, did you find your spirit? Was your spirit fulfilled? Was there a purpose? Where did your energy go? Has your spirit moved you?

See if you entered into things correctly, if you used your Strategy and Authority to navigate your decisions.

Second Stage: Who were your allies?

The Sun/Earth enter the 54/53 polarity.

Gate 54 is called the Marrying maiden, Ambition.

Gate 53 is called Development, Beginnings.

Together they prepare us to look forward to the next cycle, they help us identify the friends and allies that we can trust and can work with - the correct allies help you transform and realize your ambition.

So look back to the life areas you already reflected on.

Now start adding faces and names to each item, noting that you reflect on their roles - did they help or hinder?

Also, reflect on your contribution to others, were you supportive or not.

No judgement.

No action yet.

This is an exercise for reflection.

(I will add the link for Part 2 here).
