Pick Yourself
Pick yourself … you shy talented soul.
Be the one who chooses you to do “it”, whatever that “it” means to you.
“It” can be your life and how you choose to live it,
or your talent and how you hone it and showcase it,
or your relationships and how you connect with others,
or your brilliant and constantly evolving art and how you express it.
Choose yourself, and do not let the thought of the “masses” overwhelm you and your gentle spirit.
There is a space made just for you, waiting for you to show up … a slice of life that’s all yours.
I know it is daunting and it is making your heart go super fast you think it will jump out of your chest …
I know about the struggle, internal and external, and the daily letdowns and put-downs and the constant shutdowns … and that’s okay … you do not have to believe any of that … because your creative soul will find a way to meander through the rubble of your dreams and grow and grow and grow.
Choose you, pick you, even if you are a middle child who was often overlooked in your family, even if your class had so many kids - and the teacher’s child - and you were overlooked often because there were so many, even when others taunted you when you were chosen and became hostile when you were outstanding.
Pick you, even if you sometimes feel like you are just another face in the crowd.
Choose you, every day, for no particular reason or talent that you have.
Take a deep breath.
Straighten your back.
Hold your head up high.
And repeat “I choose me” to do what is needed to receive my place in this world.
Chant “I choose me” every time your mind screams at you like a mean old man, he can say really hurtful things, but that’s alright … keep on choosing you, and allow others to choose themselves too.
Another deep breath,
Now go get your coffee you sparkling stardust.
